Study of Assessment Use in Jeffco Public Schools

Prepared for Jeffco Public Schools in 2014

In November 2014, Augenblick, Palaich and Associates (APA) completed a study on behalf of the HB14-1202 Colorado Standards and Assessments Task Force regarding assessment use in Colorado districts and schools (see Study of Assessment Use in Colorado Districts and Schools). Information was gathered through a number of sources, included a statewide online survey of district administrators, school administrators and teachers. During this study period, Jeffco Public Schools contracted with APA to separately examine Jeffco survey responses, and compare them against the statewide results.

Survey responses included information about:

  • Assessment timelines;

  • Time spent to prepare for and administer assessments;

  • Perceived benefits and impacts of assessments; and

  • Suggested changes to state assessment system.
